Product Manager

March 2018 - March 2019

  • Led a cross-functional team of engineers and designers responsible for developing and shipping commercial IoT cellular based cloud-connected products.

  • Set the product vision, defined the roadmap, and led product launches and ongoing enhancements for the company’s flagship $4m+ cloud based SaaS central platform.

  • Developed a strong understanding of customers’ pain points through interviews and surveys, and defined and implemented user interfaces that effectively supported customer workflows and enhanced the user experience.

  • Analyzed customer data and feedback, prioritized product features, and managed the engineering backlog via agile methodologies.

  • Built and launched multiple products in parallel for the SaaS IoT central platform, as well as the iOS and Android mobile apps for field end-users leading to an increase of 30% YoY in subscriptions and 80% YoY increase of the mobile app usage.

  • Worked with the growth marketing team to define marketing messaging and content, and create new merchandising and promotional vehicles, such as sales literature and collaterals, product specification documents, direct marketing campaigns, and trade show participation.

  • Communicated project status and performance data to stakeholders and managed expectations.

  • Owned and lead various product design projects through scope, development, and deployment. Created, maintained, and tracked projects release plans. Coordinated released manufacturing drawings and specifications with machine shop and suppliers.

  • Oversaw design and manufacturing of electric servo-controlled stabilizing systems resulting in commercialization of 2 new products in 2016 and 2017 and generating $2 million in annual revenue.

  • Designed and tested a military UAV/UAS landing capture system. The system was successfully demonstrated at Fort Pickett, VA to a large Department of Defense audience.

  • Analyzed and created complex simulations of thrusters using computer simulations and successfully validated via empirical testing, resulting in retention of major client and a $4 million/year revenue market.

  • Designed, managed, and implemented mechanical components selection and validation program to reduce fatigue induced failures in the stabilizer actuators product line. Reduced company field maintenance spending by $50k/year. Provided technical support to company’s global field service network.

  • Supervised and mentored a team of junior engineers, drafters and interns.

  • Senior member of the engineering hardware design team responsible for designing and developing an advanced technology for metal additive manufacturing (3D printing).

  • Co-inventor in patent application involving gas flow for metal 3D printing technology that has been implemented in the commercial printer.

  • Coordinated and negotiated with vendors and suppliers to source Alpha prototype parts and successfully meet tight project deadlines.

  • Oversaw design, development, qualification, assembly, testing, and manufacturing support of the $50 million market revenue Formation Isolation Valves Product Line.

  • Co-invented new hydraulic connection method (Patent US8061430), enabling development of proprietary technology that led to the creation of a new product line for the company; negotiated with vendors to develop purchasing and intellectual property agreements. The new product line now generates approximately $5 million/year in revenue.

  • Managed and supervised activities of draftsmen, technicians, and suppliers to design, build and test new prototype tools that helped increased market share by 4%.

  • Supported 4 international manufacturing centers, assisting them with engineering change requests and manufacturing non-conformance reviews. Maintained 100% closure rate, company average (90%).
